About

Ganapeshwaralayam, also known as Kota Gullu, is a group of ancient stone temples located near Ghanpur in the Jayashankar Bhupalpally district of Telangana, around 50 kilometers from Kaleshwaram. These temples were built during the 12th century by the Kakatiya dynasty and are primarily dedicated to Lord Shiva (Ganapeshwara Swamy). The site is famous for its intricate carvings, majestic stone architecture, and well-preserved vimanas. The name “Kota Gullu” means “temples within a fort,” referring to the cluster of temples surrounded by ruined fort walls. The architecture reflects a blend of Kakatiya and Chalukyan styles. Ganapeshwaralayam is a peaceful and spiritual spot, attracting devotees and tourists alike, especially during Shivaratri and local temple fairs. Many pilgrims visiting Kaleshwaram Triveni Sangamam also include this historical site in their journey.
